Individual Giving Officer
The Individual Giving (IG) Officer is a strategic and accomplished fundraiser with experience in major donor and annual donor discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The IG will raise funds for the multiple priorities of the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) which encompass the research grant program, education initiatives and advocacy efforts. The IG will also be responsible for building and growing the MRF’s pipeline of donors through the direct mail program. He or she will manage a portfolio of 100+ donors, plan stewardship events and create cultivation opportunities around the MRF’s existing events such as the Wings of Hope gala series and Miles for Melanoma 5K Run/Walks.
Core Responsibilities:
- Raise $1,000,000+ through identification, cultivation and solicitation of individual donors to include annual fund and major gifts.
- Develop and manage the direct mail program.
- Collaborate with the programmatic staff to identify priorities for individual funding.
- Create and manage a revenue and expense budget as approved by the CEO.
- Work with Development Committee on fundraising campaigns and priorities.
- Provide feedback for a larger development communications calendar specifically focused on fundraising with the MRF’s communications team.
- Develop and implement an annual stewardship plan for major and mid-major donors.
- Develop a strategy around #GivingTuesday, Melanoma Awareness Month and other fundraising appeals.
Qualifications:
- 4 year degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of fundraising experience.
- Experience soliciting gifts of $10,000+.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge required.
- Team-player with a positive attitude who is able to effectively work with multiple constituents.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Creative and passionate.
- Outstanding customer service.
- Able to travel extensively.

Database Assistant
The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is hiring a Database Assistant to join the Operations team. This position will work under the supervision of the Database Manager, and the primary area of responsibility lies in accurate and timely gift entry and gift acknowledgment. The Database Assistant is also responsible for creating and updating donor contact and demographic information as necessary.
Core Responsibilities:
- Process and acknowledge gifts and event registrations made on-site, online, by phone, by EFT, and via the mail with a high level of accuracy.
- Update constituent records by utilizing processes including address changes, contact tracking, & merging duplicate records.
- Prepare and review acknowledgement letters and disseminate to senior staff and board leadership.
- File paperwork once donation processing steps are completed.
- Export mailing lists and run queries.
- Provide excellent customer service by phone and email.
- Assist with maintaining and enhancing integrity of database by processing standard assigned data maintenance task.
- Support Database Manager with various database projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or associate degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in non-profit environment or in organizational support and data entry.
- Mastery of Raiser’s Edge constituent and batch entry, and advanced skills including query, export, and mail merge. Experience with Events, Prospect, and Target Analytics strongly preferred.
- Team player.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT and Luminate Online required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Equivalent combination of education and work related experience may be considered.
- Highly detailed oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills with the ability to work courteously and tactfully with colleagues and the public.
- Possess strong analytical skills.
- Ability to take initiative; work well as a team member and independently.
- Capability to organize and prioritize workload and remain productive with minimal supervision and direction.
- Flexibility to work additional hours during high-volume donation periods to ensure donations are processed in a timely manner.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.

Internships
Development Intern
The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is seeking a Development Intern to support the Development department. This position would support all aspects of the MRF’s fundraising efforts, including the individual and corporate giving programs, Miles for Melanoma 5K program and Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala program.
This position offers exposure to the full scope of fundraising activities in a fast-paced and rapidly growing national non-profit. The Development Intern will work closely with the Development Coordinator on projects and events. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the non-profit healthcare sector and a passion for helping others.
Core Responsibilities:
General Development Support
- Coordinate all Year-end mailings to donors
- Work on special projects related to donor database maintenance
- Process expense reports
- Provide proof-reading and editing support for development publications
- Work on special projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Special Events
- Assist the Development Coordinator with event invitations, logistics, marketing, day-of duties and post-event follow up related to the Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala program
- Assist the development team with special proposals related to the Miles for Melanoma 5K Walk/Run program
Requirements and Qualifications
