The Melanoma Research Foundation to host the Seattle Miles for Melanoma 5K

Seattle, WA (September 12, 2025) The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce the next event in its annual Miles for Melanoma nationwide 5K program, bringing together local melanoma patients, supporters, caregivers and thrivers. This year we will be hosting our annual Seattle event on Saturday, October 4 at Marymoor Park at 7:30 AM PT. Opening Ceremonies will start at 8:30 AM PT and our race will kick off promptly at 9:00 AM PT. We are thrilled to share that Dr. Daniel Sugai, board-certified dermatologist at North Pacific Dermatology, educator and digital creator, will be joining us as our event emcee this year! Recognized with multiple Top Doctor awards, Dr. Sugai has built his reputation as both a trusted clinician and a leading voice in accessible dermatology education. As the Founder of The Sugai Academy, Dr. Sugai has traveled the world from Singapore to Dubai speaking on social media education for healthcare professionals, mentoring clinicians on building impactful brands online through credible education to counter online misinformation. Through his clinical expertise, engaging online presence and dedication to mentorship, Dr. Sugai is shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders while continuing to provide world-class patient care.

The 5K walk/run will bring together the Seattle melanoma community with a goal of raising $42,000 in support of critical melanoma research.

In addition to raising essential funds to support melanoma research, this event helps elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of cutaneous melanoma and educate about rare melanoma subtypes. The Miles for Melanoma program also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks.

The MRF team is thrilled to welcome a wide range of new and returning local and national sponsors to the Seattle event this October. The 2025 local sponsors include Bristol Myers Squibb, Mortenson Financial Services, Pfizer and The Sugai Academy/Dr. Daniel Sugai. Our In-Kind Sponsors include Top Pot and Gene Juarez. Our National Prevention Partner is Neutrogena and our National Apparel Partner is Coolibar

All in-person and registered participants will receive our Miles for Melanoma UPF50+ Coolibar shirt. To register for this year’s event, visit 2025 Seattle Miles for Melanoma – Melanoma Research Foundation. Regular rate registration will close on Wednesday, October 1 at 11:59 pm PT.
