The Melanoma Research Foundation Hosts Inaugural Seattle Miles for Melanoma 5k

Seattle, WA (October 11, 2022) The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce that the inaugural Seattle Miles for Melanoma 5k will be held Saturday, October 15th at Marymoor Park.

Miles for Melanoma is a nationwide annual 5K event series that tours the country to celebrate local melanoma patients, thrivers and caregivers. This year, the Seattle melanoma community will unite to raise $35,000 in support of critical melanoma research. To date, the Seattle community has already raised over $24,000.

In addition to raising essential funds to support melanoma research, this event helps elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of both cutaneous (skin) melanoma and rare melanoma subtypes. The Miles for Melanoma program also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks. The MRF team is honored to welcome the University of Washington Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology, who will be providing on-site skin checks to registered participants on event day.

The MRF team is pleased to welcome a wide range of local and national sponsors to Seattle including Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Mortenson Financial Services and Washington State University, Vancouver. National sponsors include Neutrogena, Coolibar and Pfizer

Register to attend the Seattle Miles for Melanoma 5K event here by Wednesday, October 12th, 11:59 PM PT. On-site registration will also be available on event day.
