The Voice of Dodgers Stadium, Todd Leitz, to Emcee the Melanoma Research Foundation’s 2022 Los Angeles Miles for Melanoma 5K

Los Angeles, CA (November 18, 2022) The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce this year’s Los Angeles Miles for Melanoma 5K, emceed by the Voice of the LA Dodgers Todd Leitz! The race will take place on December 3rd at Griffith Park at 9 AM PT with a special opening ceremony hosted by Leitz at 8:30 AM.

For the last eight seasons, our 2022 Los Angeles Miles for Melanoma emcee, Todd Leitz has personified Dodger home games as the Public Address Announcer. Not only is Leitz the Voice of Dodgers stadium, but he is also a melanoma advocate. “I’m out in the sun a lot, playing baseball, gardening, walking my dog, skiing, or just lounging about the pool or at the beach, so I’m very aware of the importance of protecting yourself against skin cancer.” Leitz goes on to emphasize the importance of this event, saying “This event celebrates those fighting melanoma and those who’ve beat it, while remembering those whose lives were shortened by skin cancer.  I am proud to play a small role in melanoma education, prevention, and hopefully someday, a cure.”

Miles for Melanoma is a nationwide annual 5K event series that celebrates local melanoma patients, thrivers and caregivers. This year, the Los Angeles melanoma community will unite to raise $85,000 in support of critical melanoma research. To date, this community has raised over $31,052.31.

The MRF’s Miles for Melanoma 5K series helps elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of both cutaneous (skin) melanoma and rare melanoma subtypes. The nationwide event also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks.

The MRF team is pleased to welcome the Miles for Melanoma local sponsors, Castle BioSciences, HUYABIO International, InstillBio, Novartis, UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center; as well as our national sponsors Neutrogena, Coolibar and Pfizer, to Los Angeles.

Register to attend the Los Angeles Miles for Melanoma 5K event here by Wednesday, November 30th, 11:59 PM PT. On-site registration will also be available on event day.
