Linney Wins Golden Globe For Role as Melanoma Patient

The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) was pleased to see Laura Linney’s portrayal of a woman with advanced melanoma honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards.  Linney won the category for Best Actress in a television series (comedy or musical) for her role in the Showtime series, “The Big C.”  Linney’s portrayal of “Cathy Jameson” has been funny, inspiring, and heartbreaking – and her character’s journey underscores the urgent need that people with melanoma have for better treatment options.  We are sorry that this recognition comes shortly after the passing of Linney’s father from lung cancer.  The MRF offers Linney condolences on her loss, and ongoing appreciation for her compelling dramatic work.
