- Holds an undergraduate or graduate degree in Social Work, Public Health, a scientific discipline, Business, Health Administration or a related field.
- Experience working with biomedical researchers and/or cancer patient community is a plus.
Overview.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented early-career professional to support our Science and Research Grant Management team. This assistant-level role is ideal for a recent graduate or individual with an internship (or early work experience) in grant administration, nonprofit operations, project management, scientific research or other relevant experience. This position is full-time with a hybrid schedule based in Washington, DC.
The assistant will assist with the grant administration process including documentation, data input and tracking, and using grant management software ProposalCentral (training will be provided). The assistant will also support meeting planning, email correspondence and other related administrative support.

Core Responsibilities.
- Monitor grant submissions, maintain detailed application logs and ensure all materials are complete and accurate prior to review.
- Maintain comprehensive and well-organized digital records for current and archived grants including contracts, reports and correspondence.
- Manage internal calendars for grant cycles, review periods, scientific meetings, and reporting deadlines to ensure timely execution across programs.
- Coordinate the peer review process by tracking deadlines, communicating with reviewers and supporting evaluation workflow.
- Draft, edit and proofread professional communications including emails, formal letters and reports for applicants and reviewers.
- Support the planning and execution of scientific meetings and workshops. Coordinate logistics, documentation, agenda creation and note-taking.
- Monitor required deliverables such as progress and financial reports. Prepare internal reports and share outcomes with the development team to support donor engagement.
- Work with the communication team to provide grant associated information.
Requirements & Qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field, business management, nonprofit management or other related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience (or internships) in research, grant administration, project management or other relevant experience.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented, proactive, positive attitude and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
