BOTTLE KING’S SPRING GALA TO BENEFIT THE MELANOMA RESEARCH FOUNDATION

Bottle King, New Jersey’s largest retailer of premium wine and sprits, is proud to announce it has joined with the Melanoma Research Foundation to raise funds in the fight against melanoma. On “Melanoma Monday,” May 5, 2008, hundreds of consumers will sample premium wine and spirits from around the globe while helping to fund research through the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF).

Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, is the fastest growing cancer in the U.S. and worldwide, and can strike people of all ages, races and both sexes.  With a one in 60 lifetime risk of developing melanoma, each year nearly 60,000 cases of melanoma are diagnosed and more than 8,000 people die of this disease.  Without effective treatments for advanced melanoma, early detection is essential to improving prognosis. 

The MRF is the largest private, national organization devoted to melanoma in the United States.  The Foundation is committed to the support of medical research in finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma.  The Foundation also educates patients and physicians about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma, while acting as an advocate for the melanoma community to raise awareness of this disease and the need for a cure.  The MRF Web site is the premiere source for melanoma information seekers.  More information is available at www.melanoma.org.
