About This Event

During this free session, attendees will enhance their knowledge of skin cancer, improve recognition of early signs and learn proactive prevention tools through regular skin checks and consistent sunscreen use. Presented by Vivian Bucay, MD, FAAD and Dawn Stringer, Melanoma Survivor, Mrs. Texas International 2026.

 

Speakers:

 

Dr. Vivian Bucay is a nationally and internationally recognized dermatologist based in San Antonio, known for her expertise in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation and her innovative, combination-based approach to aesthetics. With over three decades in private practice, she is widely regarded as a leader in dermatology, blending advanced clinical care with a strong foundation in research and education.

 

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Bucay earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at the University of Miami and Baylor. Licensed in both the United States and Mexico, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UT Health San Antonio and is a sought-after speaker and educator worldwide.

 

A stage 4 melanoma survivor, Dr. Bucay brings a deeply personal perspective to patient care, fostering empathy shaped by her own cancer journey. She has been cancer-free since 2007 and is passionate about helping patients not only survive, but thrive.

 

Featured in leading publications such as Allure, Elle and Men’s Health, Dr. Bucay has been named a Texas Super Doctor annually since 2004. She is also an active contributor to clinical research on emerging skincare therapies, a dedicated supporter of the arts, and above all, committed to her family, patients, and community.

 

 

Dawn Stringer is a melanoma survivor, advocate and the reigning Mrs. Texas International 2026. After her own melanoma diagnosis, she became passionate about raising awareness around skin cancer prevention, early detection and sun safety. Through community outreach, public speaking, and storytelling, Dawn uses her platform to encourage others to prioritize their health, perform regular skin checks, and protect their skin. She is dedicated to turning her experience into education and empowerment for others.
