Dr. Rigel is a nationally recognized dermatologist and leading expert in melanoma and skin cancer prevention. Dr. Rigel is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, an Adjunct Clinical Professor at UT Southwestern and a Consultant Dermatologist at Cooper Clinic in Dallas.

Dr. Rigel is best known for developing the ABCDEs of early melanoma detection, now the standard approach to identifying melanoma at its earliest stages. He has authored more than 300 scientific publications, edited the leading textbook “Cancer of the Skin” and has delivered over 1,000 presentations around the world on melanoma, skin cancer and photoprotection.

A former President of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Rigel has received numerous honors throughout his career, including the Academy’s Gold Medal, its highest distinction, and the Melanoma Research Foundation’s Humanitarian Award.
