Captain Jason Chambers

Superyacht Captain | Television Personality

Melanoma Advocate | Conservationist

Jason Chambers is an Australian superyacht captain, television personality, and global advocate best known for his role as the lead captain on Bravo’s Below Deck Down Under. With more than two decades of experience at sea and four seasons of the series under his belt, including an Emmy Award nomination, Jason has become one of the most recognized and trusted captains in the Below Deck franchise. The Season 4 premiere drew 2.8 million cross-platform viewers in seven days, making it the most-watched episode of the series and the most-watched Below Deck franchise episode in total viewers in nearly three years.

In late 2024, after three decades spent working under the open sun, Jason was diagnosed with melanoma. What began as a small sunspot on his ribs turned into a diagnosis that reshaped his outlook and his platform. Since sharing his story publicly, Jason has become a passionate advocate for skin cancer awareness and early detection. He serves as an ambassador for the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) and emceed the Foundation’s 24th Annual New York City Gala at Cipriani Broadway in October 2025. He is also set to be featured on a Times Square billboard during Melanoma Awareness Month in May as part of his ongoing partnership with the MRF. Jason uses his platform to encourage regular skin checks, access to dermatology, and open conversation about a disease that impacts over 1.4 million Americans.

Beyond television, Jason is deeply committed to conservation and community impact. He is the creator of Currents of Change, a documentary-style travel and conservation series profiling grassroots environmental efforts in coastal communities around the world. He is an ambassador for the Classroom of Hope foundation, through which he helped build a school in Lombok, Indonesia entirely from recycled plastic waste, diverting six tons of material from landfills and waterways. He also supports Rice for Bali, providing food security to local communities, and serves as a PADI AmbassaDiver, lending his voice to ocean conservation and marine education initiatives.

Jason connects with a highly engaged and rapidly growing global audience of over 427,000 Instagram followers drawn to his authenticity and grounded approach to life. He is the founder of Captain’s Lounge, a lifestyle platform that has launched a kimono line and a signature cologne, with a portion of proceeds supporting Classroom of Hope. He also hosts Inside the Captain’s Lounge, a podcast featuring candid conversations with former crew members and guests from the Below Deck universe.

A native of Wagga Wagga, Australia, Jason’s path to the helm was anything but traditional. He trained as a mechanic and plumber, played professional rugby league in Australia, including stints with the Newcastle Knights and North Sydney Bears, and pursued American football in the United States before entering the maritime industry in his late twenties. Today, he is a certified PADI Rescue Diver and advanced freediver, a dedicated single father to his daughter Saskia, and splits his time between Bali, Australia, and wherever the next charter takes him.

With multiple projects rolling out across lifestyle, wellness, and purpose-led content in 2026, from his MRF partnership and Times Square visibility to the continued development of Currents of Change and a growing consumer brand, Jason is building one of the most diversified and impact-driven platforms in unscripted television.
