Education & Experience.
• Excellent customer service skills including verbal, written and interpersonal communication
• Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task
• Strong graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop)
• Strong writing/editing skills are required
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
• Availability of 10-20 hours/week
• Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications or another related field
• This position is required onsite at our Washington, DC office on Monday and Wednesday during normal business hours
Overview.
The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is seeking a Communications & Marketing Intern to support the Communications Department with developing content for the MRF social media channels, assist with our prevention and awareness campaigns and assist with other communication and marketing projects. This intern will report to the Development Marketing Manager. The internship is not paid but can be used for class credit and/or employment experience.
This internship will be based upon 10-20 hours of work per week. This will be an unpaid, in-person internship based in Washington, DC for Spring 2026 with a potential for internship extension into the Summer.

Core Responsibilities.
• Assist in designing in-house social media graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva for our annual prevention and awareness campaigns
• Collaborate and develop new engaging and creative content alongside the Programmatic Social Media and Marketing Manager for the MRF’s TikTok channel, including patient testimonial reels and campaigns
• Review and copyedit certain MRF website pages for updates and changes according to the MRF style guide
• Create marketing collateral relating to Developments events such as social media graphics, flyers and save the date postcards
• Assist in designing in-house social media graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva for our main MRF social media channels
• Conduct research for Miles for Melanoma and Gala press releases and media outreach, including identifying potential media opportunities and researching prospective event emcees
• Conduct research on potential sponsors and/or partners to support Development outreach
• Other relevant duties as assigned
