Your Action Needed: NYC Proposes Regulatory Authority Over Indoor Tanning Salons

Help us move legislation forward to assign regulatory authority of New York City indoor tanning facilities to the NYC Department of Health.

Great news! The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is proposing the Board of Health amend the New York City Health Code to assign regulatory authority of New York City indoor tanning facilities to the NYC Department of Health. This means the Department of Health would assume the regulation, the licensure, operation and inspection of these facilities. This will raise awareness and reduce the risk of tanning-related health effects among tanning facility patrons.

DOHMH is holding a public hearing on the proposed rule at 10:00am ET until 12:00pm ET on Monday, November 18. 2013. The hearing will be at the DOHMHY building at 42-09 28th Street, 14th Floor, Room 14-34, Long Island City, New York 11101.
