The Melanoma Research Foundation to Host its Inaugural 2024 Miami Miles for Melanoma 5K!
Miami, FL (January 26, 2024) – The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce the first 2024 event in its annual Miles for Melanoma nationwide 5K program, bringing together local melanoma patients, survivors, care partners and survivors. This year we will be hosting our Inaugural Miami event on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the Miami Zoo at 7:30am ET. Join us on event day for a day of family fun and receive free admission to the Zoo with your in-person event registration along with activities including a photobooth and a Chance to Win raffle!
We are excited to announce that Ron Magill, an American wildlife photographer and the communications director of the Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, will be emceeing the event! As Zoo Miami’s “Goodwill Ambassador”, he has made frequent television appearances on many programs including, “National Geographic Explorer”, the Discovery Networks, the “Today Show”, “Good Morning America”, “The Late Show”, “CBS’ This Morning”, “Dateline” and “CNN”. In addition, he is a Nikon USA Ambassador and has written and produced many wildlife articles and award-winning photographs that have appeared in publications and galleries around the world.
The 5k walk/race will bring together the Miami-area melanoma community with a goal of raising $37,000 in support of critical melanoma research. All in-person and registered participants will have access to enjoy and explore the Miami Zoo following our 5K event.
In addition to raising essential funds to support melanoma research, this event helps elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of cutaneous melanoma. The Miles for Melanoma program also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks.
The MRF team is thrilled to welcome a wide range of local presenting and national sponsors to the Miami event this February. Local sponsors include Akerman, Dr. Anna Chacon, Derm360 and One Change. National sponsors include National Prevention Sponsor Neutrogena and National Apparel Partner Cabana Life.
