Study: Biology of advanced uveal melanoma and next steps for clinical therapeutics

Each year, the MRF’s CURE OM initiative hosts two international scientific meetings.

Each year, the MRF's CURE OM initiative hosts two international scientific meetings, convening some of the sharpest minds in the ocular melanoma field. The meetings foster collaboration and alignment among the OM research community, and these discussions often spark scientific discovery.

In the fall of 2013, CURE OM partnered with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Society for Melanoma Research (SMR) to host a full-day international scientific meeting to focus on the molecular biology and immunology of uveal melanoma. Over one hundred physicians and researchers from all over the world attended this important meeting. One outcome of the meeting was a journal article providing an updated summary of the current biological and immunological understanding of uveal melanoma and next steps for clinical therapeutics. This article was recently published by the journal Pigment Cell and Melanoma Research and can be viewed here.
