Respected Producer/Writer Succumbs to Melanoma

The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is deeply saddened to learn of the loss of famed Hollywood producer and writer Stephen J. Cannell, who recently passed away from complications associated with melanoma.  Credited with producing favorites such as “The A-Team,” “21 Jumpstreet” and “The Rockford Files,” his talents also included acting and writing novels.

"Aside from being a legendary television producer and prolific writer, Stephen was also a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend," his family said in a statement issued to the Los Angeles Times.  His passing is a reminder of the devastating costs of this disease and the urgency of finding better treatment options for those who have been diagnosed.  The MRF extends its sincere condolences to his family and friends, and those who experienced and enjoyed his artist talents.  A memorial in his honor has been added to the MRF’s Memorial Wall.
