Jam for Cam – Community. Awareness. Music.

Guest blog post by Ethan Suda, melanoma advocate and host of Jam for Cam:

In the fall of 2018, Jam for Cam was born out of love and remembrance for Cameron Fearon, a vibrant University of Georgia (UGA) student whose life was tragically cut short by metastatic melanoma. This annual music festival is more than just a tribute; it’s a celebration of community, awareness and music. Held each fall, Jam for Cam unites the Athens and UGA communities to raise funds for melanoma research.

This annual music festival stands as a poignant testament to the power of community, providing a platform where participants can connect through shared experiences. By nurturing an atmosphere of support, happiness, and collective strength, our goal is to cultivate enduring relationships and fortify a resilient community that stands united in the face of adversity.

“The only way to encapsulate Jam for Cam is that a community of family, friends and loved ones came together to turn a tragedy into an event that celebrates everything Cameron was about. Cameron brought an unwavering positivity into the world regardless of what treatment or new symptoms would occur in his daily life. Jam for Cam has been able to carry on his legacy, while spreading awareness of melanoma and raising over $800,000 in the fight against Melanoma. Every year, we are inspired to raise money with the motto of any dollar can find the cure of this terrible disease. We want to be a part of finding a cure so no one will have to go through what Cameron once did.” – Ethan Suda
