Is Indoor Tanning Safe?

Although tanning beds were labeled “carcinogenic for humans” by the International Agency for Research of Cancer and moved to its highest cancer risk category, more than a million people visit tanning salons every day. That may, in part, be because of the mixed messages surrounding the health risks of indoor tanning. Some salons promote sun lamps and beds as safe and healthy, despite warnings from the Federal Trade Commission prohibiting the Indoor Tanning Association from making false health and safety claims.
