Evening Meteorologist for 5 Eyewitness News, Wren Clair to Emcee Melanoma Research Foundation’s Miles for Melanoma 5K

Twin Cities, MN (August 3rd, 2023) The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce that Evening Meteorologist for channel 5ABC Eyewitness News and 45TV KSTP Wren Clair will be returning as the event emcee for the annual Miles for Melanoma Twin Cities 5K event on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Lake Phalen Park. Clair will welcome guests to the Opening Ceremonies beginning at 8:30AM CT and kick off the 5K which starts at 9:00AM CT. This event will bring together hundreds of Twin Cities melanoma patients, survivors and families with a goal of raising $43,000 for melanoma research.

In addition to being our 2023 Miles for Melanoma Twin Cities host, Wren began her career in Broadcast Meteorology in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. She worked and lived in Rhinelander, Wisconsin where she forecasted during a handful of snowstorms and frequently covered lake effect snow off of Lake Superior. Wren left “America’s Dairyland” for Boston, where she covered about a dozen Nor’easters throughout her time in New England. A few coverage events included Boston’s February 2017 Blizzard, and historic flooding from the “bomb cyclone” on January 4th of 2018.

The annual 5k event helps to raise both essential funds to support melanoma research and elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of cutaneous melanoma and rare melanoma subtypes. The Miles for Melanoma program also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks.

The MRF team is thrilled to welcome a wide range of local presenting and national sponsors to the Twin Cities event this August. The 2023 local sponsors include Allina Health Cancer Institute, Dermatology Specialists and Minnesota Oncology. The 2023 national sponsors include National Prevention Sponsor Neutrogena, National Apparel Partner Cabana Life, National Grassroots Sponsor Castle Biosciences and National Courage Sponsor Novartis.

To register for this year’s event, visit 2023 Twin Cities Miles for Melanoma. Regular rate registration will close on Wednesday, August 16th at 11:59 pm CT.
