Alice Wertz from KTVU to Emcee the 2023 San Francisco Miles for Melanoma 5K!
San Francisco, CA (October 31, 2023) – The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce the next event in its annual Miles for Melanoma nationwide 5K program, bringing together local melanoma patients, care partners and survivors. This year we will be hosting our annual San Francisco event on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the San Francisco Zoo at 7:30am PT.
We are eager to announce that Alice Wertz from KTVU Fox 2 News will be emceeing the event this year and will kick off opening ceremonies beginning at 8:30am PT! Alice graduated from San Francisco State University, with a degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communications. Her true passion is news and interviewing. She has enjoyed various opportunities with local and national outlets and is currently a freelance news reporter for KTVU Fox 2 News. Her experience with broadcast and online media includes working with various outlets including HGTV and MSNBC. She enjoyed her creative role in pilot production and news anchor/reporter while at ZDTV.
This 5K walk/race will bring together the San Francisco melanoma community with a goal of raising $50,000 for melanoma research. In addition, all in-person and registered participants will have access to enjoy and explore the zoo all day!
In addition to raising essential funds to support melanoma research, this event helps elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of cutaneous melanoma and educate about rare melanoma subtypes. The Miles for Melanoma program also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks.
The MRF team is thrilled to welcome a wide range of local presenting and national sponsors to the San Francisco event this November. Local sponsors include IDEAYA Biosciences and Pfizer. National sponsors include National Prevention Sponsor Neutrogena and National Apparel Partner Cabana Life.
