Just Diagnosed With Melanoma
If you are reading this, you likely have undergone a biopsy (either of a skin lesion or a lymph node) or have had other tests in which the diagnosis of melanoma is either suspected or confirmed.
So what do you do if you have just been diagnosed with melanoma?
- Take a breath and read the Just Diagnosed with Melanoma…Now What? booklet.
- Remember, there is not an all-inclusive method for determining your stage of melanoma or the ‘right’ treatment option for you. However, this information can be helpful for the newly diagnosed patient.
- Connect online with the forums that are the nerve center of the MPIP Community – our lively online community of melanoma patients, survivors, caregivers and friends.
- Call our toll-free melanoma helpline, staffed by oncology social workers, at 1-877-673-6460.
- Learn about clinical trials and which treatments may work for you.
- Email the MRF Nurse ([email protected]) with specific questions about your situation.
- Visit the Patient Resources section of our website for more information.
- Become an active and empowered participant in your melanoma diagnosis and learn all you can about melanoma treatment options.
- Enroll in the MRF’s Peer to Peer Phone Buddy Program to be matched with other melanoma patients who have gone through similar experiences.

There ain’t going to be any answer.
There never has been an answer.
That’s the Answer.
