Diagnosed with melonoma 10 years ago, and now 2 weeks ago two more melonomas

I am 49 years old. 10 years ago I saw a dermatolgist and showed her a mole on my chest. She says it's nothing. Therefore, 6 months later I decided to see another dermatalogist because I do skin care and I did not like that mole. It was a stage II melonoma. If the first dermatolgist would have known that it would have been nothing or Stage 0. My heart fell to the floor when I went to a different dermatalogist and she told me a week later what it was. I was sick to my stomach and in tears. I now go every 3 months. This year I was upgraded to every 6 months. Well, unfortunately, when I went to my dermatolgist (who I love) she noticed two spots (moles on thigh and back). She didn't like them and removed them. They came back as early melonomas. We think I am predisposed for some strange reason. I went back to a dermatalogist to remove moles and make the margins big enough. For my first melonoma 10 years ago I had MOHS surgery. These two I did not, just wide margins. I try not to worry, but I went for eye exam because my dermatolgist told me its important after having melonoma. When I went last week I have a freckle in back of my eye. Well, I am scared because it can turn into melonma. My eye doctor recommended for me to go to a retinal specialist to keep in eye on it. Melonoma is a Beast! But, you have to be your own advocate. I will never go in the sun again. It will kill you. I hope I stay clear of this Beast and no more melanomas forever.

I had my first melanoma in 2007, diagnosised w/ 2nd in 2014. Luckily found very early, but I have a freckle in my eye as well...thanks for the confirmation to watch that closely. I feel I am going to have to keep an eye on everything! I go every 4months for exam...

Good luck! Thanks for sharing!

I was told I have melanoma towards the end of 2013.  It was on my ear. A surgery was performed to remove part of my ear and a node.  When cancer was found a second surgery was done to remove more nodes.

I have stage 3.  I was put on interfueron which made me horribly sick continually. But I stuck with it, despite being told by some doctor a large percentage of people quit.  After 6 months my surgeon found a mass on my neck and stopped the chemo to perform another surgery to remove it.  Then I went on radiation. Just prior to begining radiaton a pimple like mast appeared on my right neck. My oncologist was aware of it as was the radiation oncologist but since it was in the area being radiated they just continued. About the 3rd week of radiation my surgeon interrupted the radiation to perform surgery to remove it.

Cancer cells found on thing that was removed. Was found on the skin only.  Now I am do to restart radiation and my surgeon mentioned putting me on Yervoy after it

I have been told this drug is for stage4 by some people and have read about some extremely serious side affects and am eager to hear about other people's experience with this drug.

I have Stage IV melanoma.  I am taking Yervoy (3 of 4 doses so far) without side effects

Best of luck

I hope that all will be well for you in the future. I have several suspicious spots on my body and will be seeing a dermatologist next Tuesday. The worst on my leg is a scab that has been present for over 4 months. There was never a cut, but now it's growing outward, getting red around the whole base and has a lump underneath. There is even pain associated with it. I have unusual moles, on my shoulder, back and armpit. Crap!!! What is upsetting me now is what I am reading about yours and others eye exams. I was told about 2 years ago that I have a freckle in my eye. This was from an eye doctor at ' Walmart ". I will have to investigate this further.

Thanks for sharing your story. Btw, I was always a sun worshipper growing up. I didn't use sunblock bu rather baby oil. I now regret that.

Take care and the best to you.
